/ Our process

Ordering from us should take a minute, not a morning.

Every Monterra client gets their own account in our client portal — their catalogue, their prices, their order history, their invoices. Place an order from the pass on a Tuesday night and it lands straight in our kitchen's production plan. No calls to chase, no WhatsApp threads to scroll, no wondering whether it went through.

/ Why we built it

Most supplier ordering still runs on missed calls and half-remembered prices.

A chef sends a list at 11pm. Someone reads it in the morning. A line gets missed, a rate is remembered differently by each side, and nobody can say where the order is until the van arrives. That's not a people problem — it's a system problem. So we built the system: one platform running our kitchen, our stock and your orders, with the part you need handed to you as an app.

/ How it works

From first sample to standing order — six steps.

This is the whole path a new Monterra client takes. Most of it happens in the portal; the rest happens in our kitchen and on our vans, and the portal keeps you posted on both.

01

We set your account up

Accounts are opened by us, not by a public signup form — we agree what you'll be buying and what you'll be paying for it first. You get an invite link, fill in your kitchen's details and delivery addresses, and set a password. We approve it, and you're in.

Everything agreed in that conversation is then wired into your account: your rates, your delivery locations, your ordering days. You never have to restate them again.

02

You start with samples

Before anyone commits to anything, you taste it. New accounts open on a sampling menu inside the portal — pick what you want to try, send the request, and we schedule and produce it like any other order.

You can see the request move from submitted to approved to on its way, confirm receipt when it lands, and tell us what worked. Only once you're happy does the account switch over to full commercial ordering.

Your catalogue, at your prices

The catalogue you open is yours. Every product carries the price we agreed with you — not a list price, not a number someone has to look up and call you back about. Weights, pack sizes and photographs are on every item, so whoever is ordering knows exactly what's arriving.

The things you buy every week can be starred as favourites, so the weekly order is a short list rather than a scroll through the whole range.

Order in a minute, from anywhere

Add to cart, choose the delivery address, check the total, send. It works on the phone in your apron pocket at the end of service, which is when kitchens actually place orders — not during office hours.

The total you see is the total you'll be invoiced. Because the order is typed once, by you, there is no second version of it being re-keyed at our end and no line lost in translation.

05

It goes straight into production

Your order doesn't sit in an inbox. It lands in the same platform our kitchen runs on — the one holding our recipes, our costings and our stock — and joins the production plan for its delivery day. Our team is baking to a live list of real orders, not a forecast.

You see it move: confirmed, in production, out for delivery, delivered. Your phone tells you when the status changes, so nobody has to ring us to ask.

Invoices and history, always there

Every delivered order has its invoice in the portal — readable on the spot, downloadable as a PDF whenever your accountant asks. No requesting copies, no digging through email.

And the full order history stays with the account, not with whoever placed the order. When your head chef is on leave, the sous chef opens the same app and sees exactly what you ordered last week.

Four things you get that a phone order can't give you.

We don't sell the software — it's simply how we work, and you get the client side of it as part of the account.

01

Price certainty

Your rates are held in your account and shown on every product. What you see when you order is what appears on the invoice.

02

You always know where it is

Confirmed, in production, out for delivery, delivered — with a notification each time it moves. No status calls.

03

Paperwork on demand

Invoices and order history sit in the app and can be opened or downloaded any time, by anyone on your team with access.

04

One record for everyone

You and we are looking at the same order, the same quantities and the same prices. Disputes mostly stop existing.

/ The difference

The same order, two ways.

The usual way
  • Send a list on WhatsApp and hope it's read
  • Ask what this week's rate is, wait for a call back
  • Someone re-types your list into their system
  • Ring at 10am to find out if it's coming
  • Chase last month's invoices by email
  • Only one person knows what was ordered
With Monterra
  • Order in the app in about a minute, any hour
  • Your agreed price is on the product, already
  • What you typed is what our kitchen produces
  • Status updates arrive on your phone
  • Invoices are in the app, ready to download
  • Your whole team sees the same history
/ Still people

The app removes the chasing, not the relationship.

There's still a person who knows your kitchen, still a number you can call, and still someone answering when plans change at short notice. What the technology takes away is the admin nobody enjoys — repeating an order, confirming a price, asking where the van is. Everything worth a conversation, we'd still rather have as a conversation.
